Okay so I've had my droid(original moto droid, verizon) for a year.
This happened to my phone once before a couple moths ago but it fixed itself after I took the battery out and restarted it a couple times.
But now nothing is working.
The problem is;
When I hit the screen lock(power button) to light up the screen so I can unlock it,
The 4 buttons on the bottom light up and the screen just stays black.
The screen still lights up but its completely blank.
If I hit the power button and lock the screen then try it again
My normal screen will come on so I can slide the unlock thing and then its fine.
In order for the normal unlock screen to show up(and not be the blank screen)
I have to hit the lock button and dim the screen and light it back up anywhere between
2-5 or more times.
I took it to verizon and the guy told me I prolly had a virus.
He showed me an anti virus app(lookout) which I downloaded and ran a virus scan.
The app said my phone was clean and had no virus.
So I also did a factory data reset and went through the whole reactivation thing and everything else.
I've taken out the battery and reset the phone a dozen times and its not fixing the problem.
My phones warrante was of course up about 3 weeks ago
And I can't really afford the 100$ to replace it.
Any help or ideas are greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

That's really strange. It almost sounds like there is a loose connection between the screen and the pcb, but it's hard to tell without fiddling with the phone.

Just like tavenger5 said maybe there is a loose connection between the screen and the pcb. Another possibillity is there are problems on the lcd or the lcd flex cable ribbon. you can make your flex cable ribbon checked. if still has some problem, you have to replace some parts. and the price may not as much as that much.
