How-to: Unlock Motorola Droid Razr

There are two types of unlocking:

1. An unlocked bootloader, which will allow you to "root" the phone and load different ROM's without having to jump through hoops.
2. Unlocking the SIM, which allows you do use a GSM phone on another network.

With the update of Android 4, ice cream sandwich, the XT912 Razr's GSM/UTMS antenna is enabled, allowing it to be used internationally. However, you will not be able to use it on other GSM networks in the US without some software modification. See here for a detailed overview of using the Verizon Droid Razr internationally

The Droid Razr XT910 is the GSM only version that will work internationally and on other US Carriers. It will need to be unlocked.
