I have the i465. After spending some research time online, I have installed opera mini, googlemaps, and gmail. This combination has given access to email, websites, and the Internet. While the i465 is no iphone, it gets the job done and really, for $50/month, I don't think you can beat it. If you do, let me know.

I read many reviews before diving into the i465. I've heard the issues around delayed messages, low quality camera, tiny keyboard, etc..

So far, I'm receiving messages quickly and gmail is working pretty fast too. The camera is just for kicks, and the pyramid keyboard feels a little lager than it looks.

I've also used bluetooth to access the Internet from my laptop when I couldn't find a open wifi signal. While I would not advise this as a primary connection, as it just slightly faster than dial up, the connection works well for POP access.

So if you're looking for a economical solution to talking, texting, and Internet access; consider the i465. If you want a mini computer (read:iphone), buy one, sign-up for a 2year contract, and pay the monthly fees.

Ok so here are a few questions:

1. how do you load opera mini onto the phone? (i have a bluetooth adapater for my computer, and i can pair with phone).

2. what management software is used? as i have an old datapilot but the model is not supported, and new software does not support this phone at this time.

3. How do you set up your pop and mail for the phone?

4. How do you use the phone as a simple modem? what software, what connections etc?

I just got my i465 last week. I'm still trying to find out many of these same things. I've tried downloading Google Maps and Gmail, with no luck. And I would love to know how to turn it into a modem, that could really save me when the network at school dies again. Please, keep me posted on this. Thanks!

I am suspect of the poster who indicated they got these programs running. They absolutely will not work on the new i465 I just purchased. All I get are strange errors when attempting to install any Google mobile java app. I even get a strange error when I try to install the Sprint Mobile Email java app. Same errors on the new i335 I just purchased. I'm sure they dumbed down features on the phone anticipating the ability to sell monthly subscriptions to such programs. However, the programs simply aren't available at all.

If anyone could tell me the secret on how to run these apps, please post them.

Boost Mobile Phones won't run simple java apps.

i have those apps on my i465. get iden java app loader it works great.

I finally registered as a developer on the motorola site and downloaded the iden java app loader - works really well. I dl the jar/jad files from getjar.com and then edit any names thàt are too long...name has to be under 16 characters with extension...I edit in dreamweaver, but I'm sure one could use a much less extravagant solution . Now if I can just find a good version of Pac-Man...

Oh, I forgot to mention (but I'm sure you figured out) I'm using a usb connection to my computer...the ota download seems to be a joke for anything but BOOST-blessed downloads...so I got a ~$5 mini-usb > moto-usb adapter off of ebay...problem solved.

how you edit name length? i tried opera 5 beta but extension too long.
