I'm about to migrate from the treo650 to the v3 razr. Before I do...

I've read a million things that are great about this phone but I have not heard to many things that are not good. I'd like to know what you guys DO NOT like about this phone (please don't spam 'nothing') =-) and.. is there anything as far as firmware versions or anything I need to be careful about when buying on Ebay? are there any known bugs with some phones? (I went through 3 treos before I got a good one) Thanks guys for any info you can give..

I'll be honest, the quality in the video camera could have been updated, because the quality sucks. It's blurry, and the maximum time it could hold for a video is 30 seconds, I believe.

On my old Samsungs I had an external voicemail notification light that blinked advising me that there is a new voicemail. My new Razr does not have a similar light. Being used to my old phones, I hate that. You can set the Razr to beep or vibrate, but I need a silent blinking light.

    1. It is cheaper at Amazon (try www.swpro.com) - free after rebate.
    2. ebay has much higher prices and high shipping too.
    3. Never can guarantee when buying from ebay. You are on your own, evaluate and take the risk. On amazon, at least you have a good customer service.
    4. There is one problem I have seen in some V3 phones, the phone shuts off even where there is some battery left. But this is not for all phones, I have two and only one behaves this way.
    5. I tried to use it as a modem to connect to the internet using netzero, but have not been able to do it yet.
    6. If you are going with cingular, they have nice promotion now on their website. The last I saw was free after rebate and a blue tooth handsfree set too.

imho the reason you buy a razor is purely cosmetics... there is really nothing else great about this phone... average camera, no recording capability unless you flex it, and as stated before playback quality is not there... hence cometics is the reason i turned because to be honest all other cell phones were bland... i bought one for 300 locally but I don't have a contract now so if I chose to go other routes I can... cingular has a great price but with a 2 yr commitment...

Agree with you. After having used this phone Razr V3, I dont find anything great. It just looks great, is thin to fit into my shirt pocket. Otherwise it is not worth the money. I am having problem with the battery running out quickly, the phone is not supported by my carrier - t-mobile, cannot change the firmware so I am stuck with looking at cingular's logo and screens.

Luckily I dint have to pay anthing for this phone, so i dont have any regrets. Otherwise I think it is not worth the price of 200-300.

I think amazon has it for free with only one year contract with cingular. But anyone buying that should call amazon and verify that.

It's early, but after a week of use, I don't think I would recommend the RAZR--specifically, the black one that I purchased. The backlight timer is limited to 20 seconds and I haven't been able to connect to the internet once, despite being on the phone with Cingular for three hours. Nor can I connect the phone to my computer because ther seems to be an issue with Mobile Phones Tools and initializing. This would be an amazing phone if it didn't have these problems, but as of now it just strikes me as a product released before it was truly ready.

I too cannot connect to the internet, or I dont know how to do it.
I do not have any other modem on my laptop. Since the phone is a modem, I should be able to dial a number and connect using software like netzero. However it does not connect. I do not know if this is a problem with netzero, my computer settings or the mobile phone. Anyone know how to connect to the internet using the phone as a modem?

However I can use t-zones to connect to the net and go to some websites, look up my yahoo mail, connect to messenger. Since this was not in the phone, I had to get t-mobile support to push the files to my phone.

As regards the 20 sec problem, i have not see it and it was 60 sec. I changed it to 20 sec to save battery life.

Yes, I have the silver Razr. I wanted the black one, but was too expensive. After reading about the problems with the black one, I am glad I dint get the black razr.
Ask T-mobile support to fix the t-zones problem. They are usually very helpful. After you sign up for t-zones, and you get the message they send, it took a few hours for all the menus to show up in t-zones.
