RAZR V3 black for free with registration....SCAM???

ive been looking for a new phone for a few days now
and found a few websites that are giving razrs out for free if u sign up to cingular.
Im kind of sceptical about it and was wondering if anyone else has dealt with them before.
Also ive heard people say that some razr dont allow u to text msg or use the net unless its been unlocked through cingular and i was woundering if these websites provide unlocked razrs.

I just signed up with cingular through tiger diect wireless (PC & electronics store).
I got 2 Black V3 phones for free (paid about $100 in taxes though). I have 6 rebates i have to send in in 5 months, that are about $620. so my money IS tied up until i get my rebate checks (6-7months).

Multiple rebates and rebates to send after 150 days are not worth the trouble. And such a high upfront payment ! Also does the rebate cover the tax amounts also?
Better to find a retailer nearby, a lot of them will give almost free deals. My retailer did so. I am in NJ

I got my black unlocked unbranded Razr with all the accessories, usb cable, software, Moto leather case, car charger, from an independent seller for $200 with a 1 yr contract, paid a little extra but don't have to go through the hassle of getting it unlocked, the branded Cingular and T-Mobile versions come with no accessories.

do the phones provided by these stores come with video recording capability, if not is it hard to somehow install this capability into one of these phones.
Also do any of you know anyplace that can give away these phones free with a 1 year contract?

The guy at my Cingular store told me that if you get a generic RAZR, all DATA features are disabled (picture messages, picture sending, web browsing, etc). IS THIS TRUE? He told me to check with other service providers to make sure he wasnt bs-ing me. Never heard that one before.....................

Uh, Simepre, I have a Family Plan with T-Mobile; 1000 whenever minutes, unlimited night/weekend, and unlimited peak hours, for $69.99 monthly.
Though, I only got one free Black Moto Razr.

EDIT: The v3 I got was unlocked. You're gonna have to check with a retailer about this deal... I'm pretty sure the Black one is not 'free.' I just happened to know the dealer through other resources..

With some independent agents you can get a black Razr for free, but this of course is after rebates, also be aware of contract policies they have if you terminate your contract early.
