    Hi all,

I'm new here, and just picked up a razr from verizon yesterday. The phone seems great, but I am having a problem with the time display. The time stops. It seems like the phone is going into a sleep mode and the internal clock is waiting for an update from verizon. If I make a call it jumps to the correct time other than that it stays frozen on the last time it had. Has anyone else seen this?

    Thanks
    Mark

There was another thread here that referenced this same problem. I have had my Razr V3c for 2 weeks now and I have not experienced that problem, or any problem with the time on the phone. You may want to take it back to Verizon to have it checked out.

If anyone is interested, I spent 2 1/2 hrs at verizon today with my phone. The time is still messed up and they could not find whats wrong with it. They tried 3 phones aqnd all had the same problem. They think they have a bad batch of phones. I got mine at the Salem NH store. I took the phone home again with a promise that they will find out what to do and call me.

Please let us know if and when they notify you. Seeing that several people have had the problem, and that you went through several phones, all of which had the problem, well, it worries me a little...

I was told that the verizon RAZR is different than the cingular or tmobile RAZR, much of the hardware and software was changed. I don't know if this is true, if so maybe the verizon phones are just going thru teething problems. I hope so and willl post back when I hear more.

It is true, and not just because of the GSM vs. CDMA issue. The V3c is supposed to be a significant upgrade in hardware and software from the original V3.

As for the "teething problems" , please note that I have not had a single problem with the time on my V3c which I purchased exactly 2 weeks ago. I look forward to updates on this problem.

I was at radio shack the day before x-mas eve and the dude was telling me that radio shcak is gonna stop selling verizon phones and plans and switch to cingular, (was in the market for a new phone and was buying a gift for someone else) I went to the cingular store and asked if that was true when I was buying my razr and the manager said yeah starting on Jan 1st radio shack is saying bye bye to verizon and hello to cingular.

I suspect that is a competition thing. Because most Radio Shacks are mall stores, and most malls have a Verizon store, there is just no margin in selling Verizon products anymore. However, since there are very few Cingular stores in malls (or elsewhere for that matter), there is a greater likelihood that Radio Shack can make money selling their products.

Though I fail to see what this has to do with the Razr time issue...

I think this statement is more relative to your geographic location.

I'm NW of Chicago, and Cingular is EVERYWHERE. McHenry (my town) is about 2,000 people (granted all the towns run together around here) and at one time there was 3 Cingular stores.

The malls around here have Cingular stores, kiosks, etc.

Our phone company (SBC) also runs a deal when you package Cingular with their phone/DSL services.

I know few people with Verizon, and don't see many stores either.

So back to my point, it's all relative to location.

Ok, now this is strange. So far today the phone has been keeping perfect time. I don't know what happened, it hasn't been back to the store and I havn't done anything to it except set up the wireless headset. I hope it lasts.

Maybe it was a network problem all along. Since the time is regulated by the network it would make sense that if Verizon fixed the network in your area you would no longer experience the problem. It might also explain why a whole inventory of phones would have the same problem.

It doesn't explain why it seemed to only be happening to you (I assume that the staff at Verizon would have told you if they were experiencing widespread problem reports). Nevertheless, don't look a gift horse in the mouth as the old folks say.

I just bought a razr at verizon yesterday and right away i found out that the time was screwed up. I went back to the store today and they said that they know that there is a problem but there is a no fix right now. They said there is going to be an software update but they don't know when it will be available.

Maybe the automatic time update is on the fritz for all ur phones. That must be the problem and if someone could fiddle around with it, they might be able to find a solution.
