As for software, you can use Motorola (or mobile, depending on the version you install) Phone Tools to upload ringtones and wallpapers to your Razr. Unless you have the V3c from Verizon and your firmware is anything other then version .02 (the current version is .04).

#5 | | Daderator | You must remember that all the newest phones from Verizon (including the Razr) have Verizon's UI (User Interface) installed on them now and not the manufacturer's UI.

#7 | | Boom Truck Extraordinaire | If you have the original Motorola user interface, go to Menu--->Settings--->Phone Status--->Other Information--->S/W Version. That will tell you what firmware it is running. If you have a Verizon phone, with their standardized UI, I wouldn't know how to check the firmware version. Hope that helps.

#8 | | I hate spammers! | On the Verizon Razr you follow these steps to determine your firmware version:
Menu
Settings & Tools
System
Device Info
Other Information
S/W Version
If you have version .02 you can use MPT and your USB cable with no problems. With version .04, you are limited to only being able to synchronize your contact list and calendar with MPT and your USB cable. Verizon removed the ability to use MPT in version .03, so you are out of luck.
Now, if you have version .02, from what I understand, you can upgrade to .04 without losing the ability to use MPT. Apparently, version .04 is just a patch for the UI, not a full firmware revision like .03 was. However, I have not tested this theory as I refuse to risk losing my ability to use MPT.

#9 | | Member | I may have to try. I traded for this razr and the owner had the phone upgraded with the new firmware. Maybe it is only a patch and it will work. If I get the phone tools software that is all I need, right? I have a cable with my blackberry so all I need is the software. Is there a place to get it without the cable? Maybe save alittle money that way.

I guess VZW really meant it when they said 'the Razr with the network'

#14 | | Junior Member | So I'm pretty new to using cell phones for anything to make calls, but I'm wanting to get the Razr for my new every 2 next month (Verizon). I would want to play around with uploading ringtones, other media, etc, but of course I will have v .04. Does this mean I have no options because of Verizon wanting to own people, or do I have to buy their software and or get it now crap? Thanks and sorry for highjacking!

Any ideas? | Follow my "friend" z12ub's instructions in this post. It should clear up all your issues... as long as you are running either version .02 or a "patched" version .04 on your V3c. By patched, I mean that your phone was version .02 and it was upgraded to version .04. If your phone ever had version .03 on it, you are SOL.
