    Just got my new Razr.

My standby time is less than 24 hours and I don't know the talk time but that really is terrible.

I brought it back to the store and they said the stated standby times are tested under perfect lab conditions and not to expect that. But 210 hours compared to 21 hours????????

    Come on............

Anyone have any helpful hints or suggestions???

What is your standby time like on your Razr?????

    Thanks!!

Do you get good reception most of the time wherever you are? If your phone is getting low reception or searching for service off and on, this is going to use more battery power than if you were getting full bars all the time. This may or may not be your problem, just the first thing that popped into my head. Depending on who your service provider is, there are a lot of reception boosters on the market that can improve your indoor reception, thereby improving your battery life in standby. This made a big difference for me!

Sounds like their testing their standby times with all features turned off so there is not chance of the battery draining. No screen savers, no alrams, no ringtones other than what came with the phone, but then with no phone calls to the phone making it ring, no drain either!. No opening the phone to make the lights come on, and keeping the phone in an area that gets no variations in signal strength.

And of course they don't tell you that after 210 hours of having the phone sit on a shelf, what of anything you can do with the phone, other than see that it needs to be charged.

One thing I have always wondered about phone stand by time, is that with the phone ON or OFF?

So as for suggestions, I would turn off any and all features that you don't need turned on. If you are using your phone to listen to MP3's, might be time to consider using the phone as a phone and buy an MP3 player. Is Bluetooth turned on even when you are not using a BT device? That's a pretty big drain on the battery there.

I will say this though. I charge my phone every two or three days. And I use my alarm every morning on my phone, make calls everyday. Not much oif a screen saver/graphics person as far as my phone goes. My V557 only needs charging with use, every 2 to 3 days, and it's suppose to be a lower end phone, so that does make it seem like your Razr either has a bad babttery or too many "features" are being used between charges.

I get a little over 2 days with moderate use (4-5 calls every day) from my Verizon Razr V3c.

My average daily use is around 80-90 minutes. I still get about 2 days use between charging.

As for the extended battery, you can buy it on eBay with the battery cover.

Re: Razr Battery Life is Terrible

    Hey you guys!!

Two days holding a charge would be heaven!!!!

I took it back to the Verizon Wireless store and they did some software changes...but it still does not hang in there for the duration.

I called the sales center and complained and they told me to go back to the store and they would replace it. NOT! I had already done that!!

So, I did order a new battery....it is the BR50 I think. Will this help?

Can anyone specify the OEM Motorola batteries for the Razr???

Also, while I was at the store, I asked for an extended life battery and they said there was not one for the Razr.

    OK.........more opinions!!!! Thanks

The only problem with that is, you'll be very hard-pressed to get an Alltel phone to work with Verizon. CDMA phones don't use a SIM card and to "unlock" them for other US carriers requires a moderate amount of reprogramming. In the end, Verizon doesn't activate ESNs that aren't on their list of good ESN numbers (ie non-verizon phones). It was a nice thought though, can't blame ya for trying.

Re: Razr Battery Life is Terrible

OH...Did I forget to mention that I have Verizon Wireless service. The service area I am in usually is good to excellent. It does switch back and forth between EVO and 1+.

    This is sooooooooo frustrating!!!

Also, does anyone know if the techs at the Verizon store can upgrade my software to 2.0??? I would love to be able to use the Media tools in my PhoneTools software???

    Thanks again, All............
