my razr doesn't connect with my computer. HELP!

i have a tmobile razr and i just got motorola phone tools 4.0 and whenever i try to use it it doesnt see my phone plugged in. i have a USB cable that was made by motorola (it came with the software)

anyone know why it's not working?? please help me! i really just want to be able to post pictures from my phone to the computer without having to send them to me!!

Does the pc detect new hardware? If not may be the usb port. Are you plugging it into the pc usb or a hub? If it's finding a new hardware when you connect it,sounds like a driver issue

i'm actually trying to hook it up to my laptop.. it may be a driver issue because whenever i plug my phone into the computer it detects a modem, not a phone..

Well, it is supposed to detect it as a modem, so you are good. If you do follow wut Tony gave you, you will see that it can act as a modem. IE, you can access the internet, and dail to call peole from your computer, which is really cool. So it's detecting it correctly, but I don't see why the rest won't work.
