STICKY: Connecting V3m RAZR to Computer

I have downloaded an MPT from vxxxstuff and it acknowledged that a phone was there, but not the exact phone. It's a Verizon V3m, with the silver faceplate. I just want to make my own ringtones, and it's becoming rather frustrating. When I choose V3 from a list, the program just flashes "Initializing" and a little symbol of a phone says "Mobile not connected", but it's charging! Any help would be greatly appreciated.
