I had better luck doing it that way. when they do show up in your ringtones list they will be yellow with a lock on them.
I have one more question for DandyUSAF462. I was able to download 4 or 5 different custom ringtones to my K1m Krzr. They show up in my ringtones as a yellow bell with a red lock. I can apply any one of these ringtones as my default which work fine, yet when I assign one of the new e/mailed ringtones to a particular contact, the ringtone that was selected as my default rings, not the one saved to the contact. All of my ringtones are mp3's. They are no larger than 200kb and are all less than 25 sec long. How can I assign a different ringtone to each of my contacts?

have you checked within your contact list to make sure the ringtone is set to that particular person? I have set a ringtone to a contact then i went and changed my default ringtone and it changed my individual settings...don't know what I did but it happened. check and make sure they are still set the way you wanted them.

I went back and checked my contacts and they are all still set the correct way. I even went back to my contacts and set all of them as the default ringtone ( Verizon Tone). Then,I went back to two contacts and set their ringtones to ( Alert ) and ( Triads ). When these contacts called me, the default stilled plays. I thought the ringtones I downloaded messed up the phone. Even the factory set ringtones cannot be assigned to individual contacts. Any more thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Re: krazr ringtones from sd trans flash card?

Having same issue with my new krazr. Downloaded several ring tones using verizon's software. They show up in My Tones, but when I go to contacts, edit the contact to use the new ringtone and click "save" all seems well. When I go back to look at it again, it is still set as "default" and the "default" ringer rings instead of my selected/downloaded tone. Any Ideas?

are they saved to your card or your phone? i believe they have to be saved on your phone for them to work. they will show up if they are on your card but wont work.

I have used mobile17.com to send the ringtones to my krazr, but i cant get it to save it in the My Ringtones folder, it will only save it in the My Sounds folder, which means i cant use it as a ringtone. Any ideas or solutions to this?

You guys are making this way harder than it actually is.

If you have the transflash card all you need to do is put it in the phone, hook the phone up to the computer that has your mp3 files..then drag the files you want into the " Removable disk" file.

Then once they are on the phone.. go to the mp3 player.. highlight the song you want as a ringtone, click on it.. and scroll down to where it says "copy" then select "phone".

The file is then copied onto your phone and can be found with all the ringtones that the phone came with.

Then all you have to do is select that ringtone.
