I have had 3 different motorola phones, all with the trans flash card. How can I download my ringtones from the flash card onto the new krazr phone? I tried to convert the mp3 files to .qcp files. This only gave me "My Sounds". How do I save it to ringtones? Is the extension different than .qcp? If so what is it? mike

I was able to does this with my verizon Razor. i have had no luck. i know the files are now .mid and not .mp3's. you might have to redo the database on the phone.

Im not sure which thread it was but i remember reading about putting your card into the reader on your pc and formatting the micro card, then right after formatting on pc, put the card back into your phone and it will set up the folders which the KRAZR uses..ie, my music, my videos, ect...after you put card into the phone and you see the folders appear, put the card back into pc reader and copy the files you want into the correct folders...mp3 for music ect. and they said that worked for getting the mp3 installed on the cards.

as for ringtones, i'm right there with you on that one. been trying to record and convert but still no luck with getting my personnal tones on the KRAZR. i will keep tinkering with it and see what i come up with and post if i find the way.

hope this helped if i find the original post ill copy it and re-post it here.

I was wondering, can you use your own mp3s on the KRZR? and could you also use them as ringtones? I would really love the help. I'm picking up a krzr as soon as my nextel contract is up, and have been searching for this info for weeks now. thanks in advance.

I have tried EVERTHING imaginable to get my ringtones onto my new KRZR!! NOTHING works!@!@! Verizon put blocking software on the new KRZR and the updated RAZR model V3m. I spoke with Motorola directly and they told me Verizon is the ONLY cell provider SO far that blocks any outside ringtones from these two phones. I bought Motorola's MPT software which works (updated version only) on both the KRZR and the Razr V3m, BUT....... the music / ringtone icon does not even show up on the right hand side menu. Again, Verizon even blocks the manufacturer's software. The KRZR is a good phone EXCEPT for the blocked ringtones. Verizon wants you to PAY for ALL ringtones that do not come with the phone from Verizon itself. At $2.50 a ringtone it is a complete RIPOFF!!! considering you can download an entire song legally from i-tunes, napster, etc. for 99 cents. Verizon makes enough money off the cell service alone. My last phone was the Motorola E-815 which would take any and all outside ringtones from any source. I had over 75 custom ringtones that you CANNOT buy anywhere. That feature alone made the E-815 the best phone on the market considering all the other great features it has. My KRZR REALLY does not do anything great when you compare it to other phones on the market. At $399.00, you think Verizon would let this phone do everthing all the predisesors did plus more! I loved the E-815, yet the KRZR to me is just extra hype that it cannot live up to.

You can not use your MP3s as ringtones in the ways you have described above. The only way to put ringtones on your phone, other than Get It Now, is to pix message them to your phone.

You can put your mp3s on your phone only if you buy the music essentials kit from verizon, which gives you the drivers for your phone, a USB cable, and headphones. You have to sync with window media player 10 to transfer your mp3s to your phone...believe me I tried every other way and it doesn't work, it will only work witht he kit. As for the ringtones, either use mobile17.com or go buy a rintone software kit from wal-mart. They have to be 30 seconds or less for the phone to accept them as ringtones. I went and bought ringtone maker 2.0 yesterday for 18 dollars and it works great. I have added about 20 ringtones so far and haven't had a problem with it yet. took me awhile to find them stored on my phone which is under get it now/ music and tones/my ringtones. thats just where they are stored. Now that I got my own ringtones (my own mp3 cut down to 30 sec's) I absolutely love this KRZR. you make the tones with the software, save them to your computer, then you have to email them to your phone at [email protected] it will come in as a pix msg and will start playing your tone, select options and save sound. It will come up saying something about deleting unsupported files but just ignore this and delete the msg after saving the tone, to find the tone saved look above, i explained where to find them.
    Hope all this helps.

YES YES YES!!!!!!! This is the ONLY way to FINALLY download ANY ringtone to the KRZR!! This makes the phone, the best all over again. All of my custom ringtones are in mp3 format from songs cut down to 25 sec. Each file is no larger than 200 KB and no more than 64kbps for the bit rate. If you want to use a portion of a song from ANY CD, the song's file extension is usually in .wav format. With almost any ringtone software, you can convert it to an .mp3 file extetion AND a bit rate of no more than 64kbps, all in one step. At this bit rate, you won't take up all of the phone's memory with only 4 or 5 ringtones. Once you convert the file to .mp3 - 64kbps, you can choose whatever 25-30 sec section of the song you want for a custom ringtone. You can try mgshareware: Screen Saver Builder, FreeRIP, QuakeSaver, FreeNote, FreeSaver MP3 for the conversion of .wav files to .mp3 files etc. Audacity Store - Home will allow you to choose any part of any song file. As far as the Vcast music essentials kit, you are correct; if you want to use your phone as an mp3 player, you have to use the software to download entire songs, and or albums to your phone. Thanks for the blog, THIS site rocks!!!

you can put your own mp3s on the krzr but you HAVE to edit the mp3s down to 30 sec or less to use them as ringtones...if you dont want to buy the 30 dollar kit, use mobile17.com which is free but the free version takes a long long time to get your tone, or buy a ringtone maker, which will let you use your mp3s and it cuts a 30 sec section anywhere you want it to and save it to your card, or email it to your phone.

Re: krazr ringtones from sd trans flash card?

I posted a note on another thread about krazr ringtones and verizon. I've tried the email approach with Mobile17 on my k1m but while I receive the songs, they appear in MY SOUNDS and cannot be transferred over to ringtones. Have also tried datapilot cables which allow me to input ringtones as mp3s and they do show in the ringtone menu, but will not allow me to select them. The only ones selectable are the originals which show a lock symbol on them. Have also tried vzwpix.com emails which worked on other phones but again no success for ringtones with krazr. Any thoughts??

you are using mp3s and are no larger than 30 seconds right? And instead of having mobile 17 email them to your phone have them email them to your personnal email at yahoo, or msn. then you email them to your phone. I had better luck doing it that way. when they do show up in your ringtones list they will be yellow with a lock on them.

I put mp3's, and videos on my krzr, just with a 1g transflash card. Never bought that kit. U can't transfer the ringtones with the card, but mp3's and video works fine.
