I recently picked up a Razr V3M. Immediately I went online and ordered a 1 gig MicroSD card (a Kingston 1 gig). It arrived and I popped it in but when I tried to format the card, all it does is display "FORMATTING" then displays "Changed: Label T-FLASH", however it still reads "UNFORMATTED" in the storage device menu.

So far I've tried the Kingston 1 gig card, and two SanDisk 1 gig cards and they all do the same thing.

Has anyone ever heard of something like this? I'm assuming it's the phone, would that be accurate?

    Thanks in advance.

Try to put the card in with the phone off then on. It should format itself.

Re: Razr V3M isn't formatting SanDisk 1gig MicroSD

Ok...first post-reply-request: Didn't know if anyone ever answered this question, but I have a Razr V3M and I'm trying to do the same but with a 4gb scandisk, and after several attempts, and even after I formatted on my computer (Windows XP), it still says that the storage is "TRANS-unformatted"????
Any one with any ideas of suggestions???

    1. Try moving the lock on the side.
    2. Does any cards work? Maybe 4GB is too big for the phone.

Re: Razr V3M isn't formatting SanDisk 1gig MicroSD

Thanks Camstuf-for your quick response...but being such a newbie to cell phone tech stuff, you lost me on the "moving the lock on the side".
Don't know what that is, or where it is...I have motorola v3m with US Cellular.
I have never tried any other sandisk...this is my 1st attempt and don't have any other at the present time to try it with....do you recommend that I try a smaller-1gb-and see what happens???
Any other thoughts or recommends appreciated.....
I did get it to format on my computer(and I even put a pic on it to see if worked)..but when I slide into phone it still says: "Trans-unformatted" and when asked to format-the phone says could not and try again... and it won't.
    Thanks again camstuf

The card itself should have a small lock on the side.
Yes, I recommend trying a smaller card.

Is it a microSDHC? If so it might not be compatible with the V3M. The SD and SDHC share a similar for factor but are not the same.

Thanks chel cee7...it is that SD with the HD underneath it. So it may not...or RU pretty sure it won't....and if so and when I go to find and order or find one, how do I know for sure it won't be the HD version? Should I go smaller on the Gigs and like the gentleman before...where is this "small lock on the side" thiingy...I don't see anything.
If your a newbie...I'm a super newbie. Thanks so much and any other recommendations?

2GB and under should should with the RAZR V3M. Not all devices are compatible with the newer high capacity format. If you purchase a new microSD card and are confused whether or not it's SD or HC, it should say on the packaging and the card itself.

If you need any info just go to Wikipedia and search microSD. They'll have descriptions and images of the SD and SDHC.

    Hope my post was helpful.

Re: Razr V3M isn't formatting SanDisk 1gig MicroSD

Ok, my phone isn't even showing my microSD in 'Storage Devices.' I purchased a 2GB SanDisk microSD card, and I even have a 'High Speed SD/SDHC/MMC Card Reader/Writer.' The writer works just fine, because I can save files on the microSD, veiw/play/etc. I even formatted the card from my PC, and it's still not showing.

I want to be able to play my own media without burning a hole in my pocket. Is the 2GB to large for the cell? Do I need to move to a lower capacity? Or will it not even work at all? (which would be pretty stupid seeing as how there's a microSD slot near the battery of my phone.)

Thanks for any help that's posted,
    Chels
