Hey guys, here's a stumper for you.

I created a ringtone in MP3 format that's about 10 seconds in length. Using MPT with a bluetooth connection, I was easily able to transfer the tone to my phone and use it as a ringtone.

However, a problem pops up when I'm using my H350 bluetooth headset. Whenever bluetooth is enabled on the phone and the headset connection is active, my ringtone does not work when someone calls me. Instead, it defaults to the standard ring. When you kill the connection to the headset, my custom ringtone works again.

My fiance has a SLVR L7 and we tried it on her phone with the exact same results (she has a headset identical to mine). We both use Cingular.

Does this sound normal? Is there a way I can get my custom ringtone to work when the bluetooth connection to my headset is active? Thanks guys!

It is normal, I've heard of disabling this with a seem edit but have had no luck when researching it.

Yeah, that actually makes sense. Does anyone have any information on how this could be changed with a seem edit? Thanks again!

I think you are stuck. All Motos work this way. It's annoying when you are using a headset and are used to being able to screen your calls based on ringtones you are familiar with.

A bigger annoyance I have is the horrible thing Moto does in linking dedicted ringtones to text messages. I have a ton of different assigned ringtones to people I have in my phonebook. I also have special tones created for text messages. When a friend sends me a text message, it doesn't play my text message tone, it play's my friends assigned ring tone. What a pain.

Again this is yet another Moto programming problem.
