Songs to long and lag on my phone

I need help with my razr its the first one they released without any extra memory cards or anything and I tried to add a song to my phone but it was to big so I found a different one. The song fit, however, I guess it was still to long and whenever I play it or when I have it set to my ringtone and someone calls, the song lags and sounds like someone is fast forwarding it. Can anyone suggest anything for me, I was thinking of finding a program to cut off the like last two minutes of the song... Thats what led me to this site Thanks to Jeaniesing;
