re: Motorola RAZR-V3a Ringtones
i think the latest firmware from alltel has removed that functionality. try following this guide: aznuwee - How to use MP3 Ringtones on Your MOTOKRZR-K1m
to put them on the phone using your computer. It says it is for the krazr, but this method is verified functional on the Razr v3 (whatever).
(dont worry about setting attributes... its not necessary).
Just place files into the folder where the rest of the ringtones are
return to root of filesystem and delete "mytonedb.db"
disconnect the phone
reboot the phone (turn it off and then back on)
your new files should be able to be set as ringtones now

re: Motorola RAZR-V3a Ringtones
be forewarned about deleting ringtones though. there are some specifics that they dont mention on that site:
1. do not delete anything that is set as one of the ringers on ANY of the profiles (this applies to contacts as well)
2. do not delete anything that is one of the DEFAULT ringers for any of the profiles (you can make a list of these before making any changes by checking in the sound settings -> master detail/silent detail/alarm detail)
the reason for not deleting the ones that are set as defaults is the following:
when you delete the mytonedb.db file and reboot the phone, it resets the ringer profile back to the defaults. If the phone cant find those files it will mess up the menus and you might very well have to reflash the phone to get it back working proper.
keep in mind that as i said when the ringtone database is rebuilt, all contact ringers will no longer be as you set them previously. that said, each time you add ringers in this fashion, you will have to reset the contact ringers, main ringer etc.

re: Motorola RAZR-V3a Ringtones
thats odd... never had that happen to me before, but I think I've seen someone post a comment like that over at HACK THE RAZR | It's your phone. Make it so. (also accessible through my profile/clicking my username and then the "homepage" link - just like my signature says)
be forewarned that registration there was acting up the last few days so if you get an email response saying that your username is different from what you registered as, just be patient and styol will get the database straightened out. he is aware of the situation now and it may be fixed already.
