The mp3 player on my MOTORAZR VE20 doesn't display song information. I use "Windows Media Player 11" to rip a CD in mp3 format. I also use the player to find the album information. All is displayed in Windows Media Player 11; Artist, Album, track #, etc... I then drag the album folder from the computer to the microSD memory card inserted in the computer via the Start Menu/My Computer. The memory card has been formated for the phone and contains the folder "my_music" where I place the album folder. When I open the phone's music player the only way I can listen to the added music is through the "All Songs" option. When I want to select music by "Artist" or "Album" or "Genre" the phone must not recognize the information Windows Media Player 11 tagged to the mp3 files because there are no results when choosing these options.

Has anybody has success in loading music onto their VE20 and accessing it through the Album, Artist, Genre options?

I found out how to make it work. You need to change the mp3 tag version to... ID3v2.3(ID3v1 ID3v2.3 APEv2) When I ripped my CD in windows media 11 is saved the tag version to... ID3v2.3(ID3v1 ID3v2.3)

Better if you go where you bought it, so we're sure it will be fix.

Try using a data cable instead of inserting the memory card into your computer. I had to do that on the Motorola KRZR I had before this phone. It started working correctly once I did that. I also use a data cable on my LG env2 which I have now. Data cables are very cheap on Amazon.com. I got mine for $2.86 a couple of months ago.

Re: music player doesn't recognize artists, albums, genre, etc...
Thanks, this fixed my problem as well with a new LG Octane. I used the free tool MP3tag, opened the my_music directory, selected all of the tags, and then just picked Save from the MP3tag file menu -- it converted all of the tags to the correct format. Now the music all shows up with its metadata like it should! (Now I just have to figure out how to get album art to show)...
