multiple message alerts?

What happened to message alerts,I mean I remember on my older cell phones when you missed a message or a call your phone would beep like every couple of minutes or so.Now all you get is one alert and if you don't hear it you don't know until you pick up the phone and look at the screen.I can't find any setting on my razr that lets me do this

I beleive my RAZR only beeped once when the message was received...I'm not real sure if there is any setting to adjust that.
