headset compatability

I was wondering if a LG headset will work on a motorola V180 phone. The headset is three pin and so is the jack on the V180, but the only thing is that the headset has a answer/disconnect button on it and the phone does not support that feature. If i use this headset on the phone will i damage the phone? If i can use the headset will pushing the button do any damage? I know these are trivial questions but im naturally a paranoid person. Thanks!!

Almost all electronic devices have to have power that doesn't belong comming to them to short out or damage the circiut boards if it's something like a handsfree set with no battery and the components go together without any damage than there is little or no possibility of a short or damage, if it doesn't work than it just doesn't work.
