Help needed with V690.
I have no idea what I'm doing. I decided to purchase an unlocked phone. I think I may have made a huge mistake.
Anyone who can offer advice I would appreciate your help.
I have T-mobile service, and they have never heard of the phone. (don't say it, I know, way to go Scooter!)
So, I thought inserting the SIM would be all I had to do, but it appears there is a bit more to it than that.
Anyone????
Apologies for posting incorrectly if I did. Not only am I new to the "unlocked" phone scene, but I just found this site yesterday surfing the web trying to figure out what to do with my phone.
Thanks!!

What exactly happens when you insert the sim and start up the phone? I know this is a chinese phone so there could be many diff. reasons.

690 Motorola
Well, it works fine, only it says that it is roaming. Since posting this message, I was able to get the software to work and upgrade to 3.2 I think, or 1, whatever. Irrelevent.
When using the software, I can now see that it is roaming on Cingulair, but I have T-Mobile.
I found information on T-Mobile page where you can change the settings in the profile as to a number example: 123.548.453.441. So, I imput all those numbers as directed, except for some were not named the same so I left some blank.
I can't get T-zones, it tells me unable to connect. I can't get the ring tones because I need to send it to my phone and I can't because, (all together now) I can't connect.
So tell me, did I really mess up by buying a Chinese phone?
I bought it because it was different, and the basics, I don't care about the blue tooth crap, but I was interested in being able to sync up with my pc and transfer information etc. for business.
Anyway, any advice?
Thanks.

I honestly don't think you messed up. I recently debated between that phone and a V80 but chose the V80 just because.....it's cool :P Anyways, if you call up T-Mobile Customer Care they should be able to help you get connected.

T-Mobile can't help, not their phone???
Thanks for your input and assistance.
I like the phone, it's cool and I like the look and feel of it. I had a T720i I think previously, that I wouldn't give up simply because I liked it. I finally cracked the back hinge portion and decided I better get another just because I thought it was about to bite it.
I really did LOVE that phone. People on this site may cringe at that, but it worked for me, was easy to use, and I liked being able to change the covers if I wanted. I didn't really care about the camera portion etc. Frankly, I haven't time to be taking pics with my camera let alone my cell phone!! No one wants pictures of my work environment!! lol
This is close to that in shape and design, and I thought the slanted front was kinda cool, the little window, and, you can set ring tones for individual groups or individuals, which is nice as I can set one my MOM who rings the phone off the wall 24/7, so I know not to run to grab the phone when it rings....unless I'm just feeling like I need abuse! lol
However, I did call T-Mobile and the said they couldn't help me because it wasn't their phone. I know I can't be the ONLY person on the planet that has done this, i.e. purchased a 3rd party phone and connected it to their current provider. Like, what happens with all these people taking their numbers to another provider???? Sometimes I'm sure they take their own phone???? No?
Anyway, if anyone has any further suggestions......by all means JUMP IN!!
Thanks!!
