    Hi all,

I just registered and this is my first post. I'm posting because I'm looking for a new cellphone and I can't decided which to get. I narrowed my cellphone search down to the Motorola V551 or the Motorola V505.

I just cannot decide which on to get. I like the Motorola V551 because of all the features it has such as the video camera feature. But I like the design of Motorola V505 better (In fact, I really like the V505's design). Also, I don't know what the video quality of the Motorola V551 is and if its something I would use because of that.

If you were in my place which phone would you get? What are the more features that the V551 has over the V505? Are those features something you would really use (or are they even usable, ex. the video quality)? Do the features of the V551 make it more worth buying then the good looks of the V505? Or is the V505 enough with its features?

. . . What do you think? The Motorola V551 or the Motorola V505?

    Thanks in advance,

    Andrew (Topkart)

Near as I can tell these are the same phone, except for the edge technology on the v551 and it's slimer design these could be the same phone, me personally I would go for the v551 just because of the edge. If their the same price I think you should get as much as you can for your money.

    V551

I love my 551. The deciding factor for me was the video capability, in all honesty. Truth be told, it isnt the smoothest thing around. It's a bit choppy and not as nice as my friends nokia. It is a phone afterall though, if you want a camera go out and buy one. All 'n' all its a great phone. No problems yet. I love the options for customizing everything from the main menu to ringtones. Did i mention the whole Bluetooth bit? That comes in handy as well. I'm sure the 505 is great, but I love my 551.

I have to chime in - I'm not in nearly as deep as I want to yet but *really* enjoying the 551, heck I'm likely to set up a home DEV environment just for having fun with it

Anyone put NES Roms or a mini MAME on it yet?

of course 5MB becomes a factor (anyone expand the memory yet?)

have had the 551 for about a month now. the motorola phone book is horrid and since it dupes entries for each number of a contact, takes away the outlook contact card functionality a bit. battery life is not as good as my old ericsson by a longshot, but features and screenwise it has everything you'd want if you don't mind slightly clumsy slow menus
