usb, software, getting into games (jar) - v551

I had been digging into all the info here - had a little hiatus as I upgraded the home network to wireless and added a laptop for the wife, new laser printer, and dealing with the incredible power drain from the latter but I digress..

she likes bejewelled and would like other games..

I planned to hit ringtones first and thought just usb (aboutr $10) or usb/software package (about $35) would do the trick

However getting games on it - anyone have tips/good at it?
same routinue or more complicated..?

Some phone tools will not allow you to transfer games onto your phone so best to find out what the software does exactly before purchasing it. Also don't get pst I've heard nothing but bad things about it.

edit- ok lots of homework there (thanks community, and in particular Bruce R for so much good info!) - couple queries remain:
do I need to do anything with a usb/any kind of unlocking
bluetooth seems to be the best for pushing jars w/o need for other software
I didnt see mention of anyone using WAP to bring .jars in - that work?
