Someone please help me with Nextel i530

I got this phone as a gift from my father... for my graduation. My dad lives in another state... so i dont really talk to him much. But this phone was working just fine till about a week ago.

The green light on the top changes to red and instead of the screen saying Nextel it says Ready. Now i cant call anyone and no one can call me. But when it does work the phone will just shut off and turn back on, i guess you can say it "resets."

I cant call Nextel because i dont have the password.

What do i do????? What does this mean exactly.

Take it to a Nextel Store location and ask them what the problem is. Maybe buy a I710 or something they should take the same sim card.

try taking out sim card and reinstalling it, it may just be a bad connection to the sim card, i had a somewhat similar problem a while back and this worked for me.

i would do like marty says and to go see a rep. most of the time when the status light goes red and the idle screen say "ready" that means that your service has been stopped
