I thought I save someones number in my phone but when I checked the next day it wasn't listed. Does anyone know of a way to recover the lost number?

I think my phone is the Motorola V400

Um... phones just don't LOOSE numbers, well, to my experience any way... Just enter it again. You probably entered it in correctly, thats all.

I guess I wasn't clear enough, I must have entered the number and never hit the save/done button.

check your note pad from your call menu it may be in there this stores numbers that you've dialed but not called. Good luck. Also maybe your dialed calls as well since maybe you called it and might get lucky and it still be there.

Never dialed it just got it from the person and must have closed the phone or hit cancel instead of done.

    Me too...

I know this is an old thread, but I just wanted to pipe in that this happened to me as well and I am beyond pissed off!!!! I closed the lid in a rush and didn't hit "Done" on my motorola razr. It would have been nice if the $@#& UI guys at motorola had decided that the safest course of action would be to save the contact info if the lid is closed, rather than cancel it. Or at least provide some means of returning to that state when the phone is opened again. Damn it, I have no way of getting that data back as far as I can tell. The notepad was no use.

I don't think I can agree with you on that one Mr Fun.

Most people I know don't know how to cancel out of something. So a lot of the times when I see people messing with their cell phone and they start to get a little panicky, all they do is close their phone to cancel what they're doing. They flip it right back open to start what they intended all over again. I can't tell you how many different phones I've seen people do this with, wether it be a Nokia, Samsung, Motorola, etc....

i agree rodrigo. my wife does the same thing. when she hangs up a call, knowing that she'll place another, she flips it shut, then opens. i told her that you can use the red end button, but she feels comfortable knowing the closing action ends things for her.

and by default, doesn't a lid close do the same as the master end button (call end, whatever it's called on different phones)? so expecting moto to know that people might screw up entering a number is silly.

I totally see what you're saying, but all it would take is a prompt when the phone is re-opened asking whether you want to discard the contact info you started to enter. Or some other way of recovering what was entered. I'm not sure, I haven't given it tons of thought because I'm pretty tied up right now. But I'm sure there's a better way to design the menu to make everybody happy
    cheers

There are some phones where the flip being closed doesn't affect them. The only ones I know of are the Nokia 6106 for Cingular and the Sanyo 8300 for Sprint. (I work at Radio Shack, so I play with a lot of phones :P)
