Motorola is pretty sucky. Locking a wallpaper at bare minimum should be a standard feature of any phone. And the startup/shutdown graphics too, but I won't go there right now. Just need help with one "simple" thing.

I have also figured out that the default wallpapers in the T720, such as "beach.gif" don't have a "delete" option. Finally, a workaround! I decided to try to overwrite one with another picture of the same filename, and it worked great! I changed the picture, but now the delete option was there! BLAST! So I decided to delete it, to see if the old beach.gif would come back. Heck, no! Just what I expected; it was dead and gone. I restored the one I backed up, and sure enough, it could NOT be deleted! So close, yet so far.

That means the delete function CAN be turned on and off. I can make it almost impossible for my phone to be stolen for good! It's just setting a one or zero, that says "delete in menu, good" or "delete in menu bad...", but 4 hours on the phone with Motorola couldn't get me an answer. If someone knows an easy way to set a wallpaper .gif in an .ems file so that it cannot be deleted please reply or email me me. I will figure it out with a hex editor eventually, but it's gonna take two weeks and a lot of caffine. If nobody knows I'll post how to do it for all here for all, so you can keep thieves away from your mobiles!
