Hey guys I am new here, and I have a problem. I was an ATT customer and have an ATT SIM card, my old ATT phone is no good and I have a Cingular v551 that I want to use but my SIM card does not work. When I called Cingular they said I would have to come in to a store and get a new contract and then they would give me a new sim, but they could not just give me a cingular sim because I am an ATT customer. SO....how and where can I have the V551 unlocked to work with my att sim? Need help please.

if u call cingular, tell them u are goin on a trip out of the country and u want the unlock code for the v551 so u can use a prepaid sim. if the CSR refuses, simply ask to speak w/ a supervisor or call back. it should take a few days, but cingular will send u the unlock code if u r persistent

Since you're still a Cingular blue (att) customer Cingular will not give you an unlocked code for your v551, most private stores can unlock your phone for about $20 depending on your location.
