I have a 270c Timeport that, when it starts after sitting all night, will get a strong signal (5 bars). Then, after using the phone about a minute, I can watch the bars drop about one per second until I have no signal.

If I turn the phone off and wait a while, it will get maybe 1 bar when I turn it back on, then no signal again.

For the minute that it gets a signal, it works fine; I don't think it's a problem with the service provider (Verizon).

    The battery seems OK.

I opened it up and didn't see anything obviously wrong.

Any ideas? (besides "get a new phone" which is my backup plan)

    Thanks for any help...

I would say have your sim card tested but you don't have one of those, I have noticed on a few motorolas that this does happen when making a call as well as when sending text messages, I would bring it up to Verizons techs and see if it's an ongoing issue with your phone model or just swapping your phone for a new one (same model) will clear it up.

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately the phone is an "ebay special" and I'm stuck with it. I bought it to replace the LG junk that I got with the plan. The 270 was a great phone, for two weeks. For now, I have another phone to use until I can upgrade... those $15 ESN change charges are getting old though...
