    Greetings.
I just created an mp3 ringtone for my V220 using a dbpoweramp music converter and an Mp3power cutter. The size of the tone is 457 kb, which I know is pretty big, and it lasts about 30 seconds. Anyway, I played the ringtone on my pc, and it sounded and turned out great. I then downloaded it to my V220 using a usb, which also went fine. When I tried playing the mp3 on my phone though, I get a message that says the "file has unidentifiable information," and the tone won't play. The properties on the tone I created appear to be the same as the ones I've downloaded from a disk, which played with no problem. Anyway, does anyone know what gives? I followed the directions to the "T", and it was a pretty quick and easy thing to do. Why do you suppose I keep getting that message? Any help would be greatly appreciated. If this is a noob question, don't flame too much. I actually did a search beforehand, but didn't see what I was looking for.

a 30sec tone that is 457Kb??? that is too big.

What are the specs on it? What frequency, bitrate, how many channels? All my ringers that are around 30sec are no more than 230Kbs. And thats cuz the largest one, that is 230Kbs, is 33sec long.

Post the specs on it. Maybe we can help you out through here. If not, send the ringer over to me, maybe I can find something you may have overlooked. Just upload it via www.yousendit.com or www.megaupload.com. then just pm me the link to the ringer.

Is the ringer you sent me the one you were having problems with? Because from what you stated in your first post you said that ringer was 30sec and around 457Kb.

The one you sent me was only 19sec and 100Kb.

The only problem that I could see was that your frequency is set at 44100Hz. Try using dbPowerAmp to change that frequency to 22050Hz.

In the end, I was able to send it over to my phone with no problem and the details on my phone about the ringer was all correct. The type was still noted as mp3. So, overall, nothing was wrong with this ringer, as far as I could tell.

The only thing I could think of is changing the frequency, like I stated above. Ill look into it some more, maybe theres something I'm missing. I'll see.

Someone on a different message board stated:

Your ringtone might be in VBR... convert it to constant CBR.

Also you might want to strip the ID3 tag... no point in having it on the v220.

    Would that make any difference?
If so, how would I do that?

When you bring up dbPowerAmp, click on the ADVANCED tab, seen below...

After that, you have the option of changing the Bitrate. From Constant to Variable, seen below...

try that and see if that works
