I am a newb and am having trouble loading games to my phone.

I have an unlocked v3c, am running on a windows XP pro machine.

I am able to run MPT and PST no problems.

First question: is it normal that the modem only shows up in the device manager when the phone is connected?

Here is what I do and get.

    1) unplug the phone.
2)run Java App loader from phone.
3)verify in Midway that I want to connect to com3(won't connect without phone connected)
    4) load the Java program in Midway.
    5) send the Java program

    Now I get

    Opening JAD file.............[OK]
    Connecting the phone.........[OK]
    Transmitting data blocks.....[OK]
    Completing transmission......[OK]

    And its hung.

On the phone it give me the option of cancel or download. I hit download and I get an encouraging msg that its downloading, but then I get :
On the Midway program I now have:

    Opening JAD file.............[OK]
    Connecting the phone.........[OK]
    Transmitting data blocks.....[OK]
    Completing transmission......[OK]
    Opening JAR file.............[FAILED]
    JAR downloading failed.

I tried another game and I get the same thing?

Anybody have any ideas on what may be wrong?

    Thanks.

I was told on another forum that the drivers for the V3c are the problem as they are different from those for the V3. I don't know for sure but you've managed to get farther with your "C" than I have, I can't even get PST to work only MPT. Good luck and please post back if you get it to work as I'd like to know too!

The problem was I was trying to load games that were not compatable with my phone. Once I found some games for the razr things went better.

Where did you get the P2K drivers you are using? Got a link? I'd appreciate it and glad you got it working!

Any your phone has the Java App loader in it already?

Nice little guide you wrote in the other thread. Another question though - who is your provider? I'm starting to think it something Alltel has had done to the phone. I flatly cannot get software to work other than MPT.

When you hooked your phone up did your device manager look like this: I cannot get sofware to install for those four things.

    my phone is unlocked.

My provider is T-mobile, but I didn't get the phone from them, it was unlocked when I got it.

In your device manager there is no modem. I assume this is because you were running the PST tool at the time.

When I run the PST tool it does load those or similar drivers(where you specify the driver directory to get the correct drivers) under Motorola USB devices, not other devices. I am running windows XP pro, not sure if this explains why yours is not the same. When you say it won't communicate with the PST tool are you running the phone programmer? and do are you hitting the correct bottons on the tool? i.e. when you bring up the phone programmer the screen that comes up is blank till you hit the correct widget.

    Good luck, hope this helps.

I finally found some P2K drivers that would install but still no joy in getting anything else to work with it. Oh well. I don't know if you are lucky or I'm unlucky. With the drivers finally installed, PST will finally connect untill you try to read from the phone and then it gets 1/2 way and shuts the phone off. Now P2Ktools errors out with:

    GENERIC FAILURE
    Volume name fail

    or

    FileList entry size invalid!
    Fail!

    sure didn't feel lucky.

When you read other people that have it working it always seems like they didn't have any problems. When things were not working for me it sure seemed like it was harder then it should be. There were a couple of times I was almost ready to give up.

I never got the error you described. It may have been easier for me because I have an unlocked phone, also not sure if it works better on some computers then others.

Good luck and once you figure out what your problems were make sure and post it somewhere so maybe the next guy surfing these forums will have an easier time.(maybe even append it to my other thread).
