Yes Im new and yes you'll probably flame me but Im lost.
I just bought my wife a pink razr thats locked to Tmobile. (which works cause I get her silver). Im trying to figure out if I can do the unlocking or if I need to have it done. We are on Cingular. Ive explored this site and have found lots of great info on editing the phone but still not sure if unlocking is something I can do or need to have done. I would like to enable Cingular settings if it is possible.
The last thing I want to do is mess up her new phone and Im just a little boggled by all the info here. Thanks.

No flaming here, Ron. Just a positive 'hello.' See you around the site!

Have you checked with Cingular? I know that Verizon will not unlock a non-Verizon phone; not sure about Cingular. Never hurts to ask ... the worst that can happen is that they will tell you NO.

Hello, Nick ...
I mentioned Verizon in my post as a point of comparison. They will not unlock a non-Verizon phone (but apparently will let you set them up as your carrier if you bring them an unlocked CDMA phone?). I'm not familiar with Cingular, so I don't know what their policy would be if RonMan brought a locked T-Mobile Razr to them and wanted to set it up for Cingular service.
