#2 | | Newbie | Just bought a new rokr, charged the battery, fitted the memory and went to try itunes. Nothing happened apart from a slight vibration in the phone. Figured I had to have some music on first before the program would launch. After reading how to transfer mp3s to the memory I successfully transerred songs from the computer. Still no itunes. Have read quite a lot about this problem here and elsewhere. Even have some files I could place in the system and kjava folders. Since the phone is just over 24 hours old I am inclined to take it back and ask for one that works rather than messing with it. I have not used any mobile phone tools or any other software with it for that matter. I am interested in what you did and your opinion as to what happened to my phone. Is it just a factory fault?

#6 | | Newbie | yes, I have had this same problem with my phone for months now. I called cingular, and they sent me to motorola to solve the problem. Motorola told me they couldnt solve my problem unless I hooked my cell phone to my computer, connect to the internet, and called them from a landline phone. As the only internet connection in my area is dial up, I couldnt connect to the internet and call them from my landline phone. They said they couldnt help me otherwise. I got frustrated, and never solved the problem. I thought maybe if I reset to factory settings.....but I dont know the code. Anyways...any help would be GREAT. Thanks

#7 | | Thief of Time | I do believe the default code is 0000 anybody want to correct me? As far as itunes goes you may just have to format the sd card from your phone, the first post that windows "takes control" is just conspiracy crap, I had the same prob when I first bought my 1 gig card and just formated using the phone and bingo itunes starts up just no playlist (because there is no song(s))

#8 | | Father for Life | OP...wow...could've predicated this with a "warning, rant" .
I agree with you that having Motorola work around the fact that people don't read manuals is a valid argument...but you know what-sadly...that's all it is. I haven't read of the rokr being THAT flawed...so you must be just unlucky or as griffzan says "conspiracy" hungry. Are you a seasoned Moto user? As that issue with changing the connection option is a basic tenet, we all know what to do when connecting the phone...so I'm curious why you didn't realize it.
p.s. do you have a thing with paragraph structure?

Mainly 'cause of there so called Engineers used USB 1.1 transfer instead of 2.0 and they really must of not known to much about music lovers and we prefer to have a bit more room to work with then 512MB's. They(Motto) know about these bugs in the E1! I just recently informed Motorola about a bigger problem like Windows and "mobile Phone Tools" will basically re-configure or take control of the RoKR and re-arrange the memory card into what it wants it to do. Renderring factory installed phone software like iTunes and JAVA useless or missing. I know many people have used search engines, asking "Where did my iTunes go? I pressed the little button with music notes on it, nothing happened!! Yup, try selecting a game there gone also! What happened is when you hooked up your RoKR to the PC via USB you probably was or had "mobile Phone Tools" installed or installing. Rule #1 if your using mPT's make sure you change your RoKR connection to DATA/FAX. (that might have helped to know before you connected that USB line up) most people don't read directions, Motorola should know this simple human fact! If your like any normal PC user you probably just thought of your RoKR as a Plug-n-Play device! WRONG your phone is a MODEM and MEMORY STORAGE device. Just think of it as a PCI expansion or a little bitty external hard drive. Would read the directions before attempting to install either of those type of HARDWARE to or into your PC/Laptop? (I hope so!) My point being if you skipped rule #1 when you got your RoKR home then rushed to your PC to put music in your new phone thats also your new iPoD, like I DID. You probably lost iTunes and your JAVA template games. If this happened to anyone just reply to this thread and I will help you get them back, free, and simple! I was so smart I wiped mine out twice in the same day after knowing what caused the freaking problem. | I also have the same problem with my rokr. Please help
