Now it'll trickle charge at 0.2 volts. And it won't stop charging, contrary to what the owners manual says.

Now, at 0.2 volts, it'll take hours and hours to complete the 100% charge. When it gets to 100%, it however does continue to charge even more. While on a short time span this is not a problem, after 12 hours it begins to overheat the cells in the battery and cook them. Hence the term, frying the battery.

Again, from a completely discharged battery, it takes 4 hours to get it fully charged (fully charged is 98%). Another 8 hours on the charger is the most a battery will take. Any longer and you risk damaging the battery.

You can trust me on this, as I work in one of the busiest NMI / Bell Mobility stores in Canada. We put out almost 500 new activations in December. And if you read my sig line, you'll see that I'm also a pretty busy person. I've seen enough fried batteries to know that the phone doesn't just "stop" charging after they're full.

hell either way i just want the thing to work.

I know, I'm just explaining how batteries do get toasted. So when you do get a brand new one, you'll know not to leave to charging for that long, so you'll never have this problem again

Abom, thanks for your input and that's great that you have all those activations and that you're a busy person... but from experience the last person that can teach me about cell phones and how they work is salesperson,...no offence.

I also know how the charging process of a cell phone and their batteries work, so thanks for the lesson, but you also forgot to mention why chargers have what they call in the wireless industry an ic-chip that prevents batteries from overcharging/frying.
Now i'm not saying that you are wrong, but the chances of batteries frying from overcharging now a days are slim, imagine if overcharging was a common problem, cell phone stores would be flooded with customers trying to return their fried batteries...

I am also a very busy person and i speak from real life experience of using mobile handsets from when they were first introduced.

PS: i've left one of my many handsets charging for almost a week with no problems what so ever and it hasn't been the first time.

If the battery is the only problem on your phone they'll just give you a new one, they rather do that than to replace a whole handset.

just got off the phone with t-mobile customer support and a new battery is on the way. they said it is a common problem with the phones and then they claimed that the phone is supposed to last for 10 days on stand by. i found that crazy to begin with cuz there is no way. anyways, they took care of me and ill have a new battery in 7 days(not including weekends). i am very impressed with the way they are handeling things and i would recomend t-mobile to anyone. sure the coverage isnt excellent inside here, but they take care of its people. hopefully this battery is better then the last. best part is, they arent even making me give them my old battery back, so now i have 1 and a half batteries for my phone. thanks again for your help guys.

Hey, Just finished reading your forums from January ish about the Razor and mine is doing the exact same thing it is retarded and like you said they told you 10 hours of standby time. Mine wont even make it through the night. its ridicilous my alarms and phone calls never get up. ANYWAYZ i was wondering if you solved the problem? i Also got the crappy customer service for my phone to order me in a new BAttery once again . SAME PROBLEM With the Charger! it is buggin the crap outta me so much i signed up for this forum just to see if you have handled that problem ? let me know what you did ? did they try to tell you "O ITS YOUR SERVICE IN YOUR AREA" i almost went nuts on this comment simply because there is no way the amount of signal strength could effect my battery to not last for more then like7 hours. ? please get back to me asap. Appreciate it
