hi people, im a noob. well hir's my prob: my brother left his razor on top of a portable oven. Well the outside of the oven can get extreeemely hot while cooking food. So hir's the story:

My brother actually left his razor on top, and i was careless enough to heat food without removing the razor. It was left on the top for 10 minutes. It became extreeemely hot and the screen started blinking with "insert sim".

i quickly took it off of the ovens top w/ tongs cos it was extreeemly hot and placed it in the freezer. it took 15 minutes to cool down. im glad it didnt explode(could it?).

my question is whats the worst that could happen to the razor? and what bad things could actually occur if a cellphone is heated to extremes??

i tried searching for this type of dilemma on the net but no results so maybe i thought i could get help here.

    Thanks pipol!!

well, with all sensitive electronics, you need to avoid temperature extremes. both heat and cold.

is the phone working now after getting back to room temp, or is the sim message still flashing?

i just checked it(2x). It switched on normally, music w/ graphics then asked for the sim pin. Switched it off... I hope nothings wrong with it.

If there is anything wrong with it later, just have your phone carrier replace it.

The worst that could have happened is that putting the hot phone in the freezer could cause the LCD screen to crack (due to going from very hot to very cold so quickly).

Extreme heat can ruin LCD displays making them all black (a good reason never to leave anything with a LCD in your car during the summer in most states).

Extreme or rapid temp changes can make an iffy soldered connection worse, especially connections where something is plugged in and out often, Wired headphones, data cables, chargers, etc.

    Hopefully the phone is ok.

To add to what BlkBear said..... you definitely want to avoid making any kind of drastic temperature change with any kind of electronic item.

Id also add to blkbear and binx75075.

Not only a major temperature change but most likely moisture built up inside the phone when it was removed from the freezer and water is also really bad for the electronics. The SIM chip may be blown out as well. Sorry, no good news here.

Also to add a couple of more cents, the battery could have exploded, i think you might have ruined the sim card if it's asking for a pin number, but it's alot cheaper to replace than the whole phone.
