Hi guys i have Motorola V635i. i was wondering if it is possible for me to apply a song as a ringtone if it is located on my TRANS (flash memory card). right now the only thing i can do is copy the song from the TRANS card to the phone's actual memory. it is not the best... but i can live with it. i have looked over the manual but no luck.

I searched google for an answer to your question and unfortunately could not find a 100% definite answer, but I have a suggestion you can try. Several websites said the mp3 ringtone would only work after you move it from the transflash to the phone's memory, but that's about all they said on the subject and you have already done that much.

My suggestion is, maybe the mp3 has to be a certain size, length, or bitrate for the phone to accept it as a ringtone. You should have an mp3 converter like Wavepad to edit your own ringtones, and here are some of the combinations I'd try, in the order I would try them:

    1. 96kbps, 44khz stereo
    2. 64kbps, 44khz stereo
    3. 32kbps, 22khz stereo

Obviously, the lower you take the bitrate (kbps) the more you reduce the sound quality. Many mp3 ringers are made @ 96kbps so I'd expect it to be compatible. Second, edit the length of the file to 30 seconds. You can try a longer duration if you'd like, but you probably won't hear more than 30 seconds when your phone rings, and 30 seconds is the length of most ringtones that you buy online or from your service provider. If you try all these bitrates and 30 seconds length and it still doesn't work, then I might try mono instead of stereo, but you shouldn't have to do that, I think my first suggestion will work (I hope ).

I would probably use "move" instead of "copy" just because the site I got that info from said "move". Like I said, I don't now much about your phone but the best info I could find is posted above.
