Problem--ringer going silent when I carry in my pocket.....

I just purchased a Verison Motoroloa RAZR V3c 4 weeks ago. I carry the phone in my pocket. I have discovered I am missing half of my calls. When the phone "jiggles" around in my pocket, the Ring Volume button gets "bumped" and the ringer ends up in silent mode. I have talked to Verizon about this, and they said that it is a complaint the have heard from many people. One technician said the next version will have the Ring Volume button in a different location. In the meantime, is there a way to inactivate that volume button? I have even called Motorola, but the gal I spoke too was not helpful at all. Does anyone else have this problem, and is there a solution. I can't be missing half my calls. I wonder if it's fixable by software upgrade. There's no reason why they can't control ring volume using software alone, without buttons sticking out the side. Help anyone?????

I had the exact same problem. Upon reading the supplied instruction manual, I found that you can lock the keypad (including the side buttons) by pressing "CLR" then "*". You will see a small padlock icon in the upper right next you your battery indicator. The buttons are now locked. To unlock, you simply press the same keys.

I didn't know that would also lock the outside buttons. It's somewhat inconveniant in that I would have to lock and unlock my keys for every phone call I make and receive. I suppose it's a work around, but I hope they come out with a better solution. I have my phone set so that when I open my phone, I can immediately talk to the person. This means using 2 hands and pressing keys to talk to someone. Thanks.

You can answer the phone without unlocking the keys, but you would have to press 1 key to pick it up. You would have to unlock the keys to make a call, unless you were using a bluetooth headset and the built in voice calling (same with answering a call).
