annoying beep - V3C

On my motorola V3c whenever there is a low battery, it makes this annoying beep noise every few minutes that makes me want to throw it against the pavement. It makes this noise even if I put the phone on silent. How do I get rid of this noise? Also, does anyone know if you can turn up the brightness on the LCD screen inside the phone?(It's hard to see it when it's sunny outside)

mine has a screen brightness setting and for how long under settings....its the v300 ..is there a big difference..its moto ..you'd think they would keep some continuity.
