v3c auto key lock

Hey guys,

I have a lazy boss who accidentally turns his ringer off whenever his razr v3c is in his pocket. I explained the "press *, then clear" method but he's demanding I find a way to get this done automatically.

Is there a way to enable auto keypad lock everytime he closes the phone? Or a way to disable the sidekeys so that he doesnt turn off his ringer again?

I would really appreciate any help....I've been searching for two days now.

thanks,
Sean

After running into the same problem a while back (see this thread), I consulted my owner's manual and found that by pressing "CLR" then "*", both the keypad and the side keys would be disabled. Press the same keys in the same order to unlock. The manual does not give a way to do this "automatically.

Personally, I would recommend to him that he not carry the phone in his pocket...

Any idea why the CLR * will not work on my V3C. Am I doing something wrong? Do you have to press both at the same time?

No, you press "CLR" then "*", not at the same time. Check what software version your phone is running. If it runs .03, then maybe one of the resident VZW employees here can get us a rundown on all of the changes from .02 to .03, if such a list is available.

I have .02 as well and when I press "CLR" followed by "*", a small padlock icon appears on the upper red bar to the left of the battery status indicator. I can not even begin to pretend to understand what the issue could be with your phone.

Wow, that seems really stupid for them to lock that feature... and I thought Verizon was bad about locking out useful features!
