I've had mobile phone tools working on this computer before, but lately it's been acting up. My phone is detected and everything, and I get all the buttons after it initializes.. the problem is that anytime I click on any of them (or go through the menu to any feature), the program pops up a window saying "Processing" with a lil progress meter. This stays up for about 2-3 seconds, then it gives me the "Initializing... Please wait..." message. After it scrolls by like 3 times, all my buttons will come back and it'll look fine. Then I try again, and the message comes up.. and yeah, you get the idea. It doesn't stop doing that, so I can't really access anything. Any ideas what could be going on, or what I can try to fix it? Thanks.

Here are some Details/things I've tried:
-Phone: Black RAZR V3 (Cingular GSM)
    -Operating System: Windows XP SP2
    -MPT Version: 4.0.4b 12-01-2005
-I uninstalled the drivers(p2k), and tried to connect through a different COM port (yes, I installed the drivers again for the new port). The drivers are working fine, since my phone Is being detected and all, right?
-I updated to the version of MTP that I have now. I was using an older one.
-The obvious: tried turning my phone off and back on.

I'm kinda stuck. I'm not sure what else I can try and do. I've looked around these forums and some others, so thanks in advance for any ideas and advice. :-)

I read your post, but unfortunately I've never experienced this problem. Sorry!

    Howdy Wulvareen,

Try uninstalling the program and re-installing it (after you reboot the computer).

Then install the latest version that you have and then update it again until it reaches 4.04b (or whatever the latest version is as of today). See if that helps.

I gave it a try, but nothing. :-( Still does the exact same thing. Is it possible that it's somehow conflicting with another application/program? I'm just throwing out any ideas now cuz I have no clue why it's doing this. Thanks for the help, Bear, and anyone else that tries to help. :-)

    Re: weird problem..

Hummm, deleted all the drivers and uninstalled the program and re-installed it (and allowed it to redo the drivers).

The only other option that I have had to do on a buddies computer, was when updating MPT, after each of it's updates, I rebooted his computer.

The last time I started MPT with the cable connected (without the phone being connected), until it did it's first request for the phone (or said it wasn't connected).

Only then did I connect the phone and then have it retry.

Well, that was a long process, but it didn't change anything. Damn this program.

Push computer out the window, get fancy new computer! Works for me!

Sorry, had to get that out of my system. Dang not sure what to do since you have done everything I would have done on a computer that had something working that stopped working.

The computer knows when you have hooked the cable up to the phone right? I mean there is some kind of notice display or sound that lets you know a device has been attached that wasn't attached before? The clips on the cable into the phone, and fully seated? Both clips (if there are clips), click into place?

Have you tried another usb cable, just to see if it's possible the current cable having gone wonky?

    Re: weird problem..

Yeah, the computer always makes the sound that it does when it recognizes the usb device. The usb cable also plugs all the way in. When it doesn't, it doesn't start charging, so it's easy to tell when it's plugged all the way in. And the thing about trying a new usb cable is that.. well, I have another cable that came with my mp3 player, and that's the one I used when I first had the program working. Then I went back to school, so I took that one with me. The only problem with that is that this program had started messing up Before I even took my mp3 player's cable away, so that's 2 cables it has been messing up on. Geez, this is pretty lame. I'm not even trying to fix this for myself. It's for my brother's phone, since I have the program on my own computer at school. It's getting pretty frustrating though... thanks for the help though, bear.
