I think that would be Motorola, and last time I heard, they were not giving it to anyone.

But you can call your cell phone provider and they will be happy to give it to you. As long as you are a current subscriber (and have been for at least 90 days), and let them know that the reason you need it is for a vaction in Europe, and you'd like to use prepaid SIM cards while on vacation.

    This option is free.

the problem is for us un-lucky ones who buy an inactive phone that was suppossedly unlocked and dont have the option of using the provider its locked to at all.

and so far I've paid 2 unlock companies to unlock it and neither have came through, one gave a refund, the other just hasnt responded with my server login info like he said they would last night.

Best I can figure, motorola code cannot just be generated by giving the serial number to soemone. The only ways ways to either have your provider give it, or pay for an unlock credit to unlock it yourself via USB, or to send it in to have them do that for you. Or just give up and get a tracfone fro walwart (like I've been doing the last 6 months or so!)

True that does pose a problem for people buying what they thought was an unlocekd phone. And as you said paying to have the phone unlocked, be it remotely or face to face, is then pretty much the only option, when this is the situation, unless the person want's to try their hand at editing the phone's software (at the risk of turning the phone in to a paper weight that looks like a cell phone), which forces them to download and learn what to do step by setp from others, online.

The one bad thing about paying to unlock Motorola phones is, the newer the phone, the more it tends to cost to unlock them. Depending on the company, anywhere from $20 to $80 to unlock a Moto phone.

And as you have found out, unless you are paying to have your phone unlocked locally (to me locally would be face to face), you have no idea if the company is legit or not. Hopefully it's just a case of a backlog of e-mails from their payment center to them to let them know a payment has gone through. And not them waiting for the unlock code to come from somewhere else.

If you mean Motorola Unlock, yup it does a few moto phone, just a few and doesn't give you the code, and doesn't always work with the few phones that it does work with.
