Saving MP3's from Transflash card as ringtone in phone book entry

I have a motorola v-710. I have saved several mp3's onto the 512 mb transflash card. My question is this. How do I make those mp3's ringtones? I have tried to go in and add them onto the contact in the phonebook and the mp3's dont show up in ringer ids. What am I doing wrong?

You can either cut them directly with Sony Sound Forge, or you can use an mp3 converter to turn them into .wav files and cut them with soundrecorder (which is built right into Windows). Once you have cut the clip out of the wav file, use you mp3 converter to change it back to mp3 format. There are also other ways to achieve this, but these are the only two methods I have used. I have heard that MPT can also be used to cut mp3's, but I have never used MPT for that purpose... Hope this helps.

read this post... http://www.cellphoneforums.net/932999-post29.html

especially if you are a verizon customer - you'll need to give the file a false extension, ".mid"
