I somehow got myself onto a certain junk mail texting site. I think it may have happened when I visited a 'free ring tone' site and (foolishly) entered my cell number.

I am not being bombarded by text mesages, but I still do not want to be charged for reading junk messages. I usually just delete them, but a few times scrolled into reading an unwanted text when my wife sent me a legitimate text message from her work e-mail that got truncated...

Can I block or automatically delete text messages from a particular source using my Razr V3c and Alltel?

    Short answer is... yes.

Long answer is... the ONLY way to block these text messages is to stop them at the source.

First you will need to read and reply to one of those messages, so you can send the STOP txt to keep them from coming.

Or find the company online, and read their terms and conditions, this will normally also contain their phone number(s) and or address to write to to stop and cancel their service.

Otherwise if you did indeed sign up for one of those "Free Ringtone" deals, you will find that you are also paying a monthly subscription of $9.99 to $29.99 just to have them send you the text messages.

Remember that online, the only FREE ringtones are the ones someone happens to have up for for downloading without asking for anything in return.

Mandie, can you block a particular user from sending text messages to this person's phone? I understand most providers can only turn the text feature off altogether, and cannot block individual numbers/email addresses. Isn't the same true for Cingular?

edit: Besides, this thread is asking about Alltel and the V3c...
