Newbie needs v360 setup help

I am a new cell phone user and am setting up for the first time. Most setup features are pretty straight forward and intuitive but there's some simple things that have me stuck.

(1) To manually retrieve voicemail messages I call my phone and press the # key during the greeting, whereupon I enter my password to enter the mailbox.

When I look at messges from the Main Menu and select "Voicemail" the right softkey "Call" button is available for retrieving messages but when I use it, it dials and then cycles to the prompt "Try Again". Is this "Call" feature of any use in my situation ?

(2) The user manual says "My Tel Numbers" is supposed to have my telephone number but it doesn't. How do I edit that area to add my own name and phone number?

(3) I can't get 1-touch dialing to work even though it's configured to the correct numbered key in the phonebook. Is there a configuration step I'm missing ?

Thanks in advance. Hope these questions are not too dumb to even respond to. I've seen the power of skins and they are definitely worth learning about but I need to get my phone working first.

1) The 1 key can also be used to retrieve voicemail messages. Just press and hold it until it dials your voicemail.

2)Press Menu--->Settings--->Phone Status--->My Tel. Numbers. Highlight the top one and press View. The same key should now say Edit. Press that, and you will be able to change the number.

3)Do you have your one touch dialing set to SIM or phone memory? If your contacts are stored to your SIM card, then one touch dialing needs to be set to SIM. If your contacts are stored to the phone memory, then your one touch dialing needs to be set to phone memory. You can change these settings through Menu--->Settings--->Initial Setup--->1-Touch Dial.

Good luck, and I hope this info helps you.

Re: Newbie needs v360 setup help

Thanks for the friendly advise, most forums just ignore us newbies with their dumb questions.

(1) That's a secret I didn't learn from the manual, thank you very much. The problem with using the "Call" soft key route is that it requires that the user enter a special phone number that my cell service provider didn't give me. The "1" key seems to be preprogramed however, which makes it a no brainer.

(2) For some reason my service provider seems to have removed the "Edit" soft key, so I guess I can't fix up "My Telephone Numbers". At least your response told me what to look for, but it's not there.

(3) It seems to be working now, but I don't know why. Thanks for talking me through the process.

Now if only I could get the "My Telephone Numbers" working I could remove the sticky label I put on the back of my phone to remind me what my number is.
