you can purchase a data cable, a card reader/writer, or a bluetooth dongle to move files

Is there anything that phone can't do? Motorola A1200 / MING Specs & Features (Phone Scoop)

I understand that. I have a USB cable.. just dont get the process of putting my music into the miniSD.. the built in 8mb is too small to put mp3.. just dont know if I can just somehow transfer mp3 into mini SD thru my USB. or is a card reader a must item?

You are correct 8mb is too small, you need to aquire a larger card, then transfer them with a card reader to the sd card. The Mp3 format of all music on the sd card should be the same. Your user guide will tell you what formats to use. I got a 1gb card off ebay; got +200 tunes. (takes a while to load)

    PS: Don't mistake the two
(This is how my phone works)...
Mp3 Audio (stored on sd card plays with audio player)
Ringtones (stored on phone with Ringers)

see this page for my formats:

You need to look at the name of the song. If it's over 12 characters long, the phone won't recognize it. Also, if there is unknown characters in the name such as....!<#$$%^&*()_+=-/?>< the phone won't recognize it either.
