a couple of months ago my phone was washed, and i just let it dry out, then opened it up, and blew all of the water off that i could, then turned it on, and it comes on but does not read the sim card, and the sim card works on other cell phones, is there anything i can do? can i replace that part or what?, and there is no insurance on the phone. Re: sim card not found on razor black

How long did you allow the phone to dry out, and did you remove the battery at the time to allow it to dry for at least 4 to 5 days without the battery in it?

The basic mistake everyone makes when their hand held electoric take a bath, is to check to see if it still works while it's still wet.

The first this you should ALWAYS do is remove the batteries ASAP, also take out the SIM card, and any parts that can come off or out of the phone, blow and shake and allow to dry for a few days (and resist the urge to check just to see if it works until the drying time is up).

As to what you can do now, months later. Get a can of compressed air, and a CLEAN pencil eraser. Oh and a Can of Electronics cleaning spray (Or TV tuner spray, same stuff).

Use the eraser on the contacts on the back of the SIM card and the contacts inside the phone that touch the battery and thje SIM card.

Use the Compressed air to blow out the phones insides (and to remove any eraser crumbs that might still be oon/in the phone).

Use the Electronics cleaning spray on the contacts you can see and a few short squirts into the inside of the phone (where you can't see) Allow to dry for a few mins (the stuff evaporates pretty fast). DO NOT get in into the LCD housing, as the cleaner can fog up some types of clear plastic, and it will stay fogged up. If you think you might over do it with the cleaner, shoot it onto a few Q-TIPS and clean the contacts that way.

Yeah, this guy knows exactly what he is talking about. Follow his steps exactly. Although, some things can happen to lets say...an ipod, with no user replaceable battery. So watch ur things and make sure you don't flush, or even wash them (as an iPod Mini was found in the sewers and it had costs thousands in damage)
