Re: Motorola Phone Tools, No Multimedia?

ok let's see if I can help
Moto Ski Originals for the V3 RapidShare Webhosting + Webspace

Ok this is an archive that contains the Moto Ski Original from V3, it is a .rar folder, When you open this folder you are going to see this:

    (1) Moto .Ski and several (15) Moto .dat , upload those under /a/mobile/skins/Moto
If you don’t have the Moto folder you have to create that folder

The ss_moto_a_176x220_c~~.gif and the wp_moto_a_176x220_c~~.jpg you got to upload them to /a/ and change the attributes to System 70004

The Moto.gif , the Moto.jpg and the wp_moto_176x220_c.jpg upload those to /a/mobile/pictures then change the attributes for Moto .gif and .jpg if you are using P2K man put 68 or 70044 and change if not, if you are using the P2K tools just select system and change and for the wp_moto_176x2220_c.jpg put 70002 or select Hidden

Ok, here's what you need to do.

Find someone with an uneditied V3c. If you have to go to your local Future Shop and beg them to let you hook an out-of-box one up to your notebook computer, then that's what you have to do. But you need an unedited one (or find someone online who has an unedited one).

Then, have them use P2K Commander and save all the files off the phone (everything in the "a" folder). Then, you take those files and upload them to your V3c, overwriting everything.

This should bring you back to factory default. You may have to have your phone re-programmed with your mobile number, I don't know as I've never had to do this before.

And learn from the mistake, next time, backup ALL files before you start playing

If you have a Verizon Phone, messing with the skins can be a big hassle, I belive you need to overwrite the ones that are there with BitPim and you can't mess with the default one. It has something to do with Verizon's custom UI. I hope this helps

Here is a more concise and easier to follow set of instructions to enable the Multimedia Studio button in MPT for the Razr V3c.

You need to first make sure you are updated MPT as far as you can go. Connect the phone and launch MPT. When connected Then click on "Menu", go to "General Setup" and click the "Communications" tab. Click "Change Modem" and follow the instructions. When you get to the "detect driver" screen, put a check mark in the box next to "Do not automatically detect driver. Select from list." and click "Next".

Choose "Motorola CDMA" and scroll the list until you see "V3cm". Select this phone and click "Next". Then, simply click "Finish" and it will reload MPT. Your phone will be recognized and you will have access to the "Multimedia Studio" options.

That should resolve your MPT issues. Please note: this fix may only make the button show up on your MPT interface. It will not make the button work if you have firmware version .03 or higher.

    Good luck.

getting back to the original (and yes, extremely old) thread topic...

i did all of that, and got the multimedia icon to show up.
mpt seems to be worknig fine, but when i click 'send to phone' it says communication failed.

is there any way to make it NOT fail?

Did you change the seem edit to make the phone be a V3cm Instead of just a V3c ?
