Got unlocked v3... now what?

I just got my unlocked v3 in the mail and was so excited! I started charging it, put my SIM card in and it won't do anything! What have I done wrong. Please speak slowly, I'm not very well versed in all this.

I have a Samsung right now, please don't tell me I needed to get an unlocked Samsung.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

what cell phone company are you with? (t`mobile, cingular, etc...)

You didnt say where you bought your phone or what carrier you use. All a unlocked phone does is allow you
to put any GSM carries sim card in and it will work.
Example if it was locked to tmobile then only tmobile sim cards would work in it.
Now from your brief discription it sounds like you bought a defective phone contact the seller and send it back and get a new one.

I'm almost embarrassed to admit that I got it working now. Sorry for the trouble, but thanks for responding!!
