I bought an unlocked SLVR L7 off of ebay a few weeks ago to use with my Tmobile prepaid service. Transferred my Sim card and all went well until a couple of days ago. Now when I turn on the phone, it says "check sim". I can do nothing else with the phone - it's stuck there.

So I did some testing -

    - Put the tmobile sim card into my old tmobile phone - worked fine.
    - Put my Cingular sim card into the L7 - worked fine.
    - Put the tmobile sim card back into the L7 - doesn't work.

It appears to be a phone problem specifically with the tmobile sim, but it did work up until now. Where do I go from here? Tmobile? Motorola???

    Thanks for any help!

    Re: SLVR L7 question

I would clean the contacts on the sim and the phone, hopefully your just not getting that good of a connection and it's nothing serious, because being thats it's unlocked and from e-bay..... I hate to say it but your pretty much SOL (I don't say that very often) Moto won't honor any warranty because your phone was hacked, t-mo, can't troubleshoot a phone that they ahve no experience in and cing will leave you blowwing in the wind for not buying the phone from them and pretty much the same reason as moto. If it turns out to be something that can't be fixed by a quick clean then your going to have to start searching for hacks and monster packs for your phone (which when you start reading the how to's, sounds really hard, but it's not) the tough part is getting all the right drivers and software in the right order. (don't ask me I just guessed and happened to be right the first time). The only other thing I could suggest is a diff sim altogether, may not even work and you could be out $8-$35 depending on where you buy it from. Good luck and keep us posted.

I went back to Tmobile and they gave me a new Sim card. So far so good...
