How Secure Are Cell Phone Cases?

I feel very insecure today. Yesterday, my Motorola cell phone somehow got loose from the case which I wear on my belt. The case remained attached to my belt but somehow, the magnetic strap that keeps the phone in the case popped-open and the phone crashed to a hard floor. I think the case was in the horizontal position. I had thought that these cases are secure. Had I not heard the phone crash down, I would have walked away and lost it. Maybe I'm using the wrong case. Is using the case vertically more secure? I am afraid to use the case now. Are there more secure cases to buy?

Re: How Secure Are Cell Phone Cases?

Could definitely be the case. Cases that are made specifically for any model phone, sometimes are good, sometimes not. Same thing for universal, or aftermarket ones.

But I am definitely a firm believer in keeping the phone pointing straight up for two reasons : preventing the phone from accidentally falling out of it and having the antenna pointing straight up for maximum reception.

I'm not a big fan of the leather cases that your phone goes in and stays in. They inhibit certain features and I've found that they can also leave distinguishable, undesirable, marks on your phone.

What model Motorola is your phone?

One cool site that seems to have good deals is cell phone accessories - Nokia, Motorola, Sony ericsson, Samsung, LG, Nextel, Sanyo, Kyocera, Audiovox accessory They seem like they get you maybe a little bit on shipping, but the selection seems really good.

Re: How Secure Are Cell Phone Cases?

I bet i have that same motorola case with the magnetic flap.

Overall, a nice case, the lid can be hooked on things walking by them like anything else, and if in the side mount,it could allow the phone to get out like yours did.

Note, i have been using mine in that case since purchae, an have found it more comfortable in the sideways position like you did aswell, however, i have knives an flashlights onme that have trained me to walk atleast3-6inches away from counter tops an wall corners, so i dont rip wall corners off lol.

In the vertical position, the antenae is in the bottom, an the case feels awkquard to carry imho,so i think we just have to be damn carefull bro.

Re: How Secure Are Cell Phone Cases?

Thanks for the input. Also, the antenna digs into me when sitting, if the case is kept in the vertical position. It is less likely to fall out in this position. Horizontally is more comfortable but the unit can slip out easily. The magnet within the flap doesn't appear too strong even when new and might interfere with reception. I can't think of an absolute way to safeguard the phone.
