Help with Custom Ringtones

Now, when I mean custom, I mean "songs" that you put on your phone to set as a ringtone. I have a RazrV3 and have already put songs on my phone that would act as a ringtone. (I cut them down to about 20 seconds) But...I don't know how to set it as my ringtone. Im almost positive that this is possible, please help, It would be kickass to have my true, personal ringtone on my phone.

Re: Help with Custom Ringtones

The info you seek is in the manual that came with your phone. Also read the sticky in forums.

Re: Help with Custom Ringtones

I have looked in the manual, and I have checked the stickies, the way to many stickies. The manual has offered no help, I have yet to look through ALL of the stickes and I have searched the forums in search of an answer. To be more specific, its the Razr V3m from Verizon. I can view the songs I put on there in My Music but I cant find out how to set them as my ringtone, if possible...

I have hooked my phone up to MPT and theres no way for me to put audio on it, only sync contacts and address books. I used WMP to put my songs on my phone.

Re: Help with Custom Ringtones

V3M explains everything. Check out Http://planetmotox.net

Im not real up to speed with the V3m but if it is like the v3I you have to copy the ringtone from the mem card to the phone memory.
Goto your sounds player highlite your song push menu select copy copy to phone. now goto phonebook select a name stored in the phone not the sim card select edit change ringer id to your just copied ringtone.

Re: Help with Custom Ringtones

The songs are already on the phone memory, I don't have a memory card to put in the phone. I cant select the songs I put on there as a Ringer ID for my contacts.

Re: Help with Custom Ringtones

ok did a little research, Your phone does have a memory card slot under the battery cover. You have to do a seem edit to be able to transfer ringtones by cable or bluetooth. You didnt say how you got the ringtones into your phone more info please.
again check out planetmotox.net and motomodders.net for seem edits and flashes

Dont know if this will work for your but its free so give it a try.
goto funformobile.com on the left click on upload ringtones. follow instructions it will send a test message to your phone with a link to a download. click on goto url and it will download. after the download save it to your phone.

Re: Help with Custom Ringtones

When I connected it to my comp, I went to sync music, and Windows Media Player popped up, and allowed me to transfer songs to my phone. Thats how I did it. I just found this out now, when WMP put them on my phone, it converted it to .wma format. I tried putting them on as .mp3 but they didnt show up in the my music list. BTW, I dont know what seem edits are =\

Easy to do,and you can go into your phone book as well and hit edit,it will let you do a bunch of things and towards the bottom you'll see ringer where you can assign them ringtones in your phone.

Re: Help with Custom Ringtones

You are not giving all the info we need to help you. Not trying to be a smart ass but you really need to go into detail with your answers.
1. You said that WMP transfered songs to your phone in wma format.
you said that you see them in the MyMusic. Can you play them in the sounds player???
2. You also said yea i can do that to edit phonebook and assign ringtones. You did not say which songs that you assigned. Is it those that came with the phone or the wma's that windows transfered????
3. Did you try the funformobile.com link i suggested for transfering mp3's to your phone??? If so what were the results!
If you can tranfer and assign songs in the wma format as ringtones why bother with mp3. Wma's take up less memory than mp3
4. Did your phone come with a cd that has the software on it for transfering mp3's wma's ??
5. Are the phonebook entries that you are trying to assign a ringtone to stored in your sim card or the phone? I think they have to be in phone memory to asssign ringtones to them.

According to phonescoop.com you phones music player supports wma,mp3 and aac formats
also check out the how to at Mark_Venture's V710/E815 Info

Again not trying to be a smartass, just that the more info you provide the better.

1. What is the sounds player? I can only play them in My Music, the ones that I transfered that are in .wma format.

2. I cant assign any song I transfered to the phone, only one's I downloaded from Get It Now or ones that came with the phone.

3. No I did not. I figured .mp3 would be the reason why I cant set them as ringtones. And if the manuals, sites, ect. say my phone can support .mp3's, why don't I see them in the My Music list once I put them on there?

4. No

5. I dont have a sim card, they are on the phone's memory.

Re: Help with Custom Ringtones

Possible quick fix to this problem, as everyone knows (well not EVERYONE) verizon severly (sp) hampers their phones as to make money from extra services (e.i. games, apps, and duh ringtones) so what I propose is pointing your (phones) browser to About Me and downloading your favorite tunes from there (please try not to eat up all my bandwith) also do it quick because my site won't be up that much longer. Any requests are not going to be filled for the simple reason that I don't have time to anymore, but any tone you see on there will work for your v3 (ANY V3). Good luck and if you have any prob accessing the site wait an hour or so (it just means my bandwith has been used up).

Re: Help with Custom Ringtones

I went to one I was familiar with, and clicked on it (while web browsing on my phone) and came up with an error saying "Unsupported content type."
