Problem with Moto V3i

Got the V3i works fine except yesterday I couldn't hear clearly from the output of the phone when used in the traditional manner, i.e. phone to ear. The phone in speaker mode works fine. Is this a hardware or software problem and what do I do to fix the problem?

thats a hardware problem. its a common problem with flip phones.
it usually happens when phone is closed hard the ear piece gets damaged

Thanks for the information. I called Motorola today and a tech support person that I could hardly understand(dialect) was patient with me and talked me through a system check and then gave me the code(s) for a Master Reset and guess what, it worked, the volume is exactly as it once was and its easy to hear . The code(s) are a handy thing to have.
